Introduction

In the previous data science article we distinguished between data analytics and data science. A lot of people do get confused about the difference between the two terms so let’s reiterate it here before we dive in. Data science is the overarching term of the overall field. Data analytics (or analysis) is a subset of data science. Generally, data science finds insights from data through programming and machine learning (or building models) whereas data analytics finds insights from data without necessarily getting into programming or machine learning. In this article, we will use the term ‘data science’ bearing in mind that data analytics is included in that term.
